Carpet Masters – Quality & Service Has Been In Our DNA Since 1958
Carpet Masters is a family-owned-and-operated carpet cleaning business that has been serving San Bernardino, California, and the Inland Empire for more than 50 years. The owner, Dick Stephens, has been in this line of work since the young age of 21. Our employees are highly trained, provide excellent customer service, and have been here for at least 10 years each, so they certainly have plenty of experience. Through our extensive work, we’ve come to believe in quality, great customer service, and the master craftsmanship you deserve. We would love to have you as our newest long-time customer!
Furniture Pick up
You can rely on us for all of your in-home furniture cleaning needs. If we determine that your furniture is too heavily soiled to properly clean in your home, our professional technicians pick your furniture up and clean it here, in our modern facility. Typically, your furniture is returned within 2 days, depending on how soiled it is. Many items are cleaned more than once, for the best result possible. There is no additional fee for this service, and you get a much better finished product than if the job were to be done in your home.
All furniture is hand cleaned, not steam cleaned, to prevent damage to your fabric. Our drying facilities include racks for cushions to dry evenly and correctly. We have the ability to clean the kinds of sensitive upholstery materials and fabrics that many other cleaning companies do not touch.
Dick Stephens founded Carpet Masters in 1958 in a building on Adams St in Muscoy, with the idea to be a one stop shop for all of his customers interior maintenance needs. Starting with just carpet cleaning, he eventually expanded into furniture and drapery cleaning. With the addition of these services, he found that not only did his customers need their interior items cleaned, they also needed them replaced. He added an upholsterer and a drapery fabricator to his staff, but he was not finished.
In 1978, he moved to his current location on South Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino and added new flooring products to his menu of services. For the next 15 years, Carpet Masters grew to over 25 employees, with numerous other subcontractors adding to the workforce. In 1989, Carpet Maters became licensed flooring contractors and began an impressive history of residential and commercial flooring projects throughout San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange Counties.
Today, Dick has turned the company over to his son, Rick, and the tradition continues. Our focus continues to be superior services, happy customers, and growing with the community. We do not take shortcuts and have superior facilities for cleaning specialty fabrics and rugs (Persian, Indian, Chinese) No home-based carpet cleaner can offer the professional services and care that Carpet Masters delivers on a daily basis.
Times have changed, but the quality that Carpet Masters provides to each and every customer is backed by a golden reputation for quality that is unmatched in the industry. And all of this is a result of 58 years of experience and superior customer service.
A Message from the Business Owner
My name is Dick Stephens. I was born here in Loma Linda and have lived in San Bernardino my whole life. I was captain of the football team at San Bernardino High School and sang in the choir. My first job was in a market while I attended high school, and I’ve been working ever since. From there, I ran a laundry service and then worked for Welch Overall Service™.
After leaving that company, I opened Carpet Masters when I was 21 years old. At that time, I was my only employee. The first employee I hired was an upholsterer, allowing me to expand my business operations and reach more homes in the Inland Empire. My next step was to build an 8,000-square-foot cleaning plant. At the plant, I could bring in furniture, Oriental rugs and drapes for cleaning and put them into my temperature-controlled room for drying.
Along the way, I got married and had 2 wonderful children, a boy and a girl. My son worked here for years, as did my granddaughter, and my grandson still works here. I am very happy to say I have a successful family business that I hope to pass to my children and grandchildren when I decide to retire.
